When people go on holidays (as we do), most of us have a #1 problem of finding a great spot to eat - especially if we are in 'unfamiliar' territory. We always rate things as to how things are done elsewhere from "home" - such as if there is impeccable service, how is the cultery laid out, the presentation, portion size, aroma and temperature of our food, and of course the hole in your pocket that ensues after a pricey meal.

Finding the balance between these thoughts can be abismal, unless consulting reviews and staring at pretty photographs of food - so allow and behold - here is the review for one of the top restaurants in the heart of London - "San Carlo Cicchetti"...

As runner up for the 2014 London Lifestyle Awards' Restaurant of the year - it is far from being a runner-up, but an allrounder in Italian cuisine - with the heart of its concept being "Cicchetti", known to us as authentic Venetian custom-styled tapas.

Right from the get-go, Cichetti's gleaming displays show their attention to detail with rustic candelabras bringing a glamorous aura over its authentic Italian produce.

The ceilings were detailed with an extensive wine colletion, tempting even the lightest of drinkers to try the best of Italy.

The size of the plates were just right for sharing around - here are the two top dishes not to be missed AND some of the special products to assemble this by yourself at home! : -

Buratta Heaven | Creamy buratta mozzarella and parma ham with marinated black truffle & rocket

PRODUCTS THAT WOULD BLOW THIS DISH AWAY

Great Southern Truffle, Western Australia | A simple drizzle of these babies will lighten up any dish to the max - with the best recipe for retaining the strongest truffle flavours on the market, Great Southern Truffle is the one to beat. Organic range of truffle oils are also available for the health-minded. Got a sweet tooth? Then why not drizzle your salads and pair your cheeses with Truffle honey? The pairing of the flavours is enticing...

Ausonio Tosini Prosciutto di Parma, Boneless (7.5kg) | The prince of hams at its finest since 1951! Made with love from the protected destination of origin "Parma" in Italy - curing gigantic legs of ham favoured by the French and those beyond the Alps. The quality and flavour is undeniable...

Feeling less on the salty side? Why not try Spains world-famous Iberico de Belotta Jamon, from the notorious "Black Pig" that only eats on Acorns (hence its sweet taste!). It is milder on the palate than most hams and melts in your mouth!

Crayfish Garden | Braised crayfish with butterfly pea shoot microgreens and Jersey royal new potatoes with lime jus & E.V.O.O

PRODUCTS THAT WOULD BLOW THIS DISH AWAY

Canarian Island Giant Deep-Sea Red Prawns (Carabineros) | If you were hesitant using crayfish, and wanted a sweeter edge to your dish, this is the ultimate contentender. With plenty of fleshy meat to work with, these prawns are considered a delicacy!

Alistados | Just as sweet as the carabineros but smaller in size, another great option from the Spainish seas (instead of Crayfish).

Yabbies | Australia's finest freshwater crustracean - not just any ordinary crayfish, it is the sweetest around! Delicious and versatile and known as the "mini-lobster".

Gourmet range of Yabbies also available and come marinated - with lemon, with chilli, or with spices.

Below: Why not wrap your prawns up and bake them using Kataifi shredded pastry? Then serve with a truffle mayonnaise or truffle mustard for a kick!

Koppert cress Microgreens | A gastronomic chef's ideal is to make a garden of beautifully selected microgreens to display the heart of the dish profoundly - so "bed" your seafood in some of the selected microgreens below!

Affila Cress - brings the taste of fresh peas

Sakura Cress - why not add colour to your salads and dishes with this purple cress that contrasts to bring the flavour of black raddish

Ardoino Extra Vrigin Olive Oil Fructus | one of the best, if not the frutiest

olive oils on the planet! This 100% EVOO is on the top of the range and the market, bringing the fragrance of a summers breeze to the palate - a definite liquid gold!

Having trouble flavouring things? Why not use himalayan pink salt - a healthier option of salt packed with minerals and enhances flavours of any dish. Feeling adventurous? Try a flavoured version below!
